The steel full helm is the third weakest full helm in RuneScape. The steel full helm grants greater defensive bonuses than its medium helmet counterpart, though at a cost of offensive bonuses for Range and Magic. To wear this helmet the player needs at least 20 Defence. To obtain a steel full helm the player can either buy one from the Helmet Shop in the Barbarian Village, obtain one as a monster drop, make one using the Smithing skill, trade with, or kill another player or buy one from the Grand Exchange.
To create a steel full helmet the player needs at least 37 Smithing, a hammer and two steel bars. To make a helmet use one of the bars on an anvil with the hammer in the inventory, tool-belt or wielded. This will grant the player 133.3 Smithing experience.
Members with 38 Crafting can use a steel full helmet on a pluming stand to make a Steel heraldic helm, a steel full helm designed in the colours of the player's family crest. Family crests are obtained from Sir Renitee in Falador Castle.

Trivia[]
- On July 1st 2008, when Jagex released the update HD - Members-Only Beta Launch, all full helmets, excluding the black full helmet, had a red trim applied to the plume on the low detailed version, similar to a Zamorak full helm. This was to celebrate Canada Day. This was then taken away the next day.
- This helmet shares its stats with quite some other helmets, including the Spiny helmet, Spiked helmet and Tyras helm.
- On 31 January, 2012, a graphical update changed the looks of steel equipment, including the full helm. Though this change was not applied to Steel heraldic helms.
